About Our Club

The West Highland White Terrier Club of Victoria is a non-profit organisation dedicated to serve the best interests of the Breed in our State, promoting responsible Westie ownership and providing advice and assistance to all its members when it comes to purchasing, feeding, training, grooming, and taking good care of a Westie's health.

Several Fun Days are held throughout the year - please come along and participate in the events, such as Westie Walks and our Annual Championship Show - check our Club Calendar for upcoming events.

The Club produces a quarterly newsletter, called the Westie Watch which is distributed to all members.

Club Plaques are presented each year at the Annual General Meeting for members whose dogs have qualified for Championship Title and/or Obedience Titles.

Committee Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of March, May, July and September at 7:30pm.

The Annual General Meeting is held on the third Thursday of November each year.

Meeting venues are listed in the Westie Watch Newsletter and on the club calendar.

Club History

An Inaugural Meeting was held on 17th August 1978 for the purpose of forming a West Highland White Terrier Club in Victoria.

The meeting was chaired by Mr Bill Burnell with 60 people in attendance and fifty of those people chose to take out a foundation membership on the night.

Mr Burnell spoke on the advantages of having a West Highland White Terrier Club, explaining all the finer points, the Club to be for the betterment of the breed, breeders, exhibitors, owners and all Westie lovers.

2010 saw the club celebrate our 30th Anniversary Championship Show on Sunday September 19th at KCC Park in Skye.

There have been many changes at the club over the years, but one thing has remained constant - our dedication to Westies!
